Cyanobacterial Risk Assessments and Response Plans are developed to enable Water Suppliers to effectively understand and manage their response to any level of Cyanobacterial or Cyanotoxin event.

Water Suppliers operating a Level 2 or Level 3 water supply are required to undertake a Cyanobacteria Risk Assessment to assess and categorise the risk level of their water sources for the presence of Cyanobacteria.

Cyanobacterial Response Plans are a requirements for Water Suppliers using a water source assessed at Medium to High Risk

The formal compliance rules associated with Cyanobacterial Response Plans are set out in the Drinking Quality Assurance Rules 2022 – S2.4 & S3.7.
